Blepharitis
Blepharitis is often a chronic condition characterised by irritated and itchy eyelids. Blepharitis commonly occurs in the tiny oil glands situated at the base of the eyelashes. If these glands no longer function properly, they may become infected with bacteria and the above-mentioned symptoms result. Unfortunately blepharitis is often difficult to treat however it does not cause any permanent damage to eyesight.

Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, refers to an infection or inflammation of the conjunctiva, a thin membrane that covers the whites of the eyes and the inside of the eyelids. The inflammation of conjunctivitis causes the small blood vessels within this membrane to widen, thereby making the whites of the eye appear pink or red. Generally conjunctivitis is caused by either a bacterial infection, a viral infection or an allergic reaction. Conjunctivitis is generally treated well with medications.
