Aesthetic facial surgery
Aesthetic facial surgery can be carried out on all parts of the face, depending on the area requiring attention. A facelift involves tightening of the skin on the face to remove wrinkles in order to give a more youthful appearance. A similar procedure can be carried out for the neck (necklift), cheeks and forehead (browlift). Eyelid surgery can be carried out to remove eyelid puffiness, particularly of the lower lid. Corrective surgery is also possible for the tear ducts. In a technique known as fat transfer, accumulated fat in one area of the body can be transferred to another in order to create the desired contour. Finally, laser surgery is also available for the removal of wrinkles, veins and scars.

Body contouring (bodylift)
All areas of the body can be treated with body contouring to remove excess skin or fat, for instance on the belly, upper arms, buttocks, upper legs and pubic mound. Body contouring can be an effective therapy for people with lipedema or Madelung’s disease, for otherwise healthy individuals who are unable to lose weight through exercise and dieting or for people who have lost a considerable amount of weight but have retained an excess amount of skin on the body. Excess skin is removed in body contouring by making incisions in appropriate areas, loosening the skin from underlying structures and then pulling it tight and sewing it in the correct place. If excess fat is also present, this can be removed with liposuction, although it is recommended that people try to achieve their ideal weight through exercise and dieting before undergoing body contouring. Other possible applications of body contouring are correction of the labia and, in people who sweat excessively, the removal of sweat glands.

Breast surgery (breast reconstruction)
Breast surgery involves altering the shape and/or size of the breasts. Reconstruction of the breasts, particularly following breast cancer, can also be achieved with breast surgery. Enlargement/reconstruction of the breasts is achieved either with implants or using a technique known as fat transfer, which uses the body’s own fat reserves as the implanted material. Breast reduction surgery is another possible procedure whereby excess breast tissue is removed to either improve the shape and proportion of the breasts or to relieve complaints related to large, heavy breasts (eg. back pain). Other possible areas of breast surgery include correction of asymmetry or malformation. There are several causes of the development of breasts in males, collectively referred to as gynecomastia, which may also be treated with breast surgery. The developmental malformation known as funnel or sunken chest can also be corrected with minimally invasive surgery.
