HELIOS Hospital Group

The HELIOS Hospital Group ranks among the largest and most medically advanced hospital groups in Germany. After its acquisition by the Fresenius Group in December 2005, HELIOS Hospital Corporation formed part of the Fresenius ProServe company. As from January 1, 2008 HELIOS figures as an independant business segment within the Fresenius Group. It is responsible for the operation and management of hospitals and specializes in acute medicine and rehabilitation.

The Group consists of 60 owned hospitals with 17,200 beds, including five maximum care hospitals in Erfurt, Berlin-Buch, Wuppertal, Schwerin and Krefeld. The Group's 30.000 employees perform around 500.000 inpatient treatments annually. The HELIOS Hospital Group offers expertise in all areas and at all levels of clinical care, including maximum care. HELIOS manages clinics, specialised in acute medicine, as well as hospitals with great expertise in rehabilitation. Its headquarters are in Berlin.

 

Medical excellence

In 2005, HELIOS Hospitals provided inpatient medical services in 897 out of 954 case groups in the 2006 G-DRG system. As a leading hospital operator within the Fresenius Group, HELIOS is committed to delivering excellence in clinical and nursing care. Patients benefit, as HELIOS offers the most advanced and verifiably best diagnosis and treatment methods.

The HELIOS Research Center coordinates and funds clinical research within the company in cooperation with the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), Berlin, Charité University Hospital, Berlin, and the University of Witten-Herdecke. Nine HELIOS Hospitals are teaching hospitals in academic partnerships with universities.
