The HELIOS Hospital Group consists of 60 hospitals, including four maximum care hospitals in Erfurt, Berlin-Buch, Wuppertal, Schwerin and Krefeld. HELIOS is therefore one of the largest and most medically advanced providers of in-patient and out-patient care in Europe, and currently employs 30.000 staff.
The HELIOS Group has expertise in all medical fields and at all care levels. The HELIOS Hospitals provide targeted acute medical treatment, while the Wittgenstein hospitals specialize in rehabilitation medicine. HELIOS belongs to the Fresenius healthcare group.
The 60 hospitals are allocated to the following regions: West, Central-West, North, East, Berlin-Brandenburg, Hessen-Thuringia and South. In most regions there is a maximum care hospital, which cooperates with the other hospitals in the region. As a result of the collaboration, there is an exchange of expertise that improves the medical level of all hospitals even further.
The regional breakdown also follows the influences of the individual German federal states on hospital care in Germany (federative structure). In this way, the individual HELIOS regions can adapt to serve the specific needs of each area.
The central management of the Group supports the regions and the individual hospitals. Probably the most important department for patients here is Medical Development and Quality Assurance. It controls HELIOS internal quality management, which ensures that you receive treatment at the highest medical level.
