Dr. med. Uwe von Fritschen

I obtained my M.D. degree in 1991 from the School of Medicine of the University of Hamburg, Germany. I started my surgical residency in Hamburg but soon discovered my special interest for plastic surgery.
Seeking the most advanced techniques in aesthetic surgery at that time I went to Brazil for 2 years and joined the Plastic Surgery Department of the University of Pernambuco.
Back in Hamburg I completed my education in general surgery,  traumatology and reconstructive surgery. The day after board certification I moved to Frankfurt and joined the renowned Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Markus-Hospital as senior registrar and attending physician. Aesthetic surgery especially of the face and nose constituted a major part of my work. This was supplemented by the reconstructive side with an emphasis on reanimation of the paralysed face. I have always been interested in microsurgery and was appointed the responsible member of the breast cancer and reconstruction unit. Here I had the opportunity to gain skills as a specialist in modern skin-sparing cancer resection techniques and microsurgical breast reconstruction.
In 2007 I was appointed head of the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Helios-Hospital Emil von Behring, Berlin.

Dr. von Fritschen is board certified in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, General Surgery and Traumatology/Reconstructive Surgery.  
He holds membership in the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRÄC) and the German Society of Surgery.

Our spectrum comprises all plastic surgical techniques from aesthetic improval of the body image to elaborate microsurgical reconstruction.

A main focus and special qualification lay in facial surgery. Correction eyelid and ears, Face lifts as well as aesthetic and functional nose-surgery are most common, but also facial paralysis can be reconstructed with various techniques nowadays.

Attendance of Patients with breast cancer or pre-malignancies is another one of our specialties. We are member of the breast cancer board of the Charité, the University of Berlin. Beside skinsparing techniques of tumor-resection we specialize in microsurgical breast-reconstruction. With these modern methods a muscle almost never needs to be sacrificed anymore, leaving the woman with minimal donor site morbidity.
