The tertiary care HELIOS Hospital Krefeld-Düsseldorf has a long history that reaches back to 1845. In the past 160 years, the hospital became a high-end specialized care provider, cooperating closely with the University of Düsseldorf.

Ever since the take over of the formerly municipal hospital by HELIOS in 2008, the range of departments and specialties has been continuously enhanced. Also, the consequent realization of interdisciplinary cooperation and close networking has been a prioritized objective, which was achieved through the establishment of multidisciplinary centers of medical excellence.

All along the hospital complex has been remodeled by replacing the old-fashioned buildings on the vast and ineffective campus by innovative, state-of-the-art facilities.
