Cardiovascular Magnetic resonance(CMR) is a modern non-invasive imaging technology to examine the heart and the large vessels without radiation exposure. Our CMR team in Berlin-Buch is among the leading centres in Europe and the world with more than 12 years of experience and a vast number of CMR of state- of the- art examinations (more than 3000 per year) covering the entire spectrum of indications. Many of these currently established indications were even first described by our team.
CMR has proven :
Very accurate measurement of heart function
Assessing the extent of damage to the heart after sustaining a heart attack
Detecting a missed ‘silent’ heart attack
Predicting the outcome for coronary bypass operations in patients in whom this line of therapy is considered.
Very accurate detection of heart inflammation e.g. after viral infections
Detriming if the cause of angina (chest pain) is related to diseases (narrowing) of the coronary arteries resulting in reduced blood supply to the heart.
Assessing heart involvement in a variety of systemic diseases which may affect the heart (e.g. lupus, sarcoidosis)
Detecting an even ‘yet silent’ toxic effects of some medications (e.g some cancer medications) on the heart.
Revealing the cause of heart failure in some specific primary or secondary heart muscle diseases (cardiomyopathy)
Assessing complex congenital heart diseases.
Please consider together with your physician, in how far a CMR examination could be relevant for your condition.
